Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1
Jailbreak your iPhone
By: Dominic Tresize
Absinthe 2.0 (Greenpois0n) was released earlier today on behalf of the Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev Teams as a way to Jailbreak the majority of your iDevices running iOS 5.1.1, this means that iPad 3 adopters can now Jailbreak their Devices and rid themselves of those annoying Apple restrictions.
This is of course an untethered Jailbreak (meaning you WONT need a computer every time you restart your device) and will only work on iOS 5.1.1, so I recommend updating your device to 5.1.1 now if you’ve been holding out, even if you don’t want to Jailbreak now, as once Apple releases 5.1.2 Absinthe will probably stop working for a while. If however you do wish to Jailbreak now, then…
1. (Optional but recommended either way) Backup your Device (to iTunes, not iCloud)
2. (Optional) Erase your Device (To speed up the Jailbreaking process, don’t worry, you can still Jailbreak if you don’t wish to erase)
3. Open Absinthe (Download Below) and click “Jailbreak”, wait while the magic happens
4. (If completed Step 2) Now simply restore your Device from the backup you just made and enjoy!
You only need complete this if you have previously performed a Tethered Jailbreak on a 5.1.1 iDevice.
1. Install Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 Untether from Cydia
