Macbook Pro Refresh coming in June 2012

I’ve been saying it amongst friends since December and it only seems to make more sense as we move forward in time, there is a imminent move towards a re-designed Macbook Pro that follows in the Macbook Air’s footsteps. Some people like to believe that Apple will discontinue the 17″ Macbook Pro with this upcoming refresh and it partially makes sense. Most consumers that purchase the 17″ Macbook Pro need the larger screen for more screen real estate and it packs a higher resolution, however those who are willing to shell out a few more benjamins for the 17″ are probably better off using a desktop in the end.

The Macbook Air’s 11″ and 13″ have been hugely popular not only amongst cemented Apple goers but new adopters as well, even with the removal of the DvD/CD drive (thank the gods!). It would seem that Apple should in fact move in the direction with the 15″ Macbook Pro refresh; ultra slim body, usage of solely SSD for storage, removal of the DvD drive (would allow for larger battery) and Retina LED Display. My largest fear though is if they do discontinue the 17″ Macbook pro then everyone (obviously) loses the large display, which can snugly fit full viewing of two pages at once. Moving the 15″ Macbook pro’s display to a Retina Display will not quench these concerns though as we can see that even though Apple increased the resolution on “The new iPad” this didn’t mean that the icons became smaller and that you could view more on the screen, it just meant that the existing icons, fonts, etc just had more pixels.

My best guess is that with the further integration of iOS UI components into each desktop OS version Apple has been releasing, one would assume that to circumvent the problem of not being able to view two pages at once on the same screen that you could always utilize the swipe to the next desktop function. This however would not please power users that work between multiple windows quickly.

Anyways… according to the rumor mill Apple has begun the production of the new 15″ Macbook Pro and we should see an announcement sometime in May. Hopefully we will see a 15″ high resolution offering ;)

Macbook Pro Refresh coming in June 2012..? Well we will just have to wait and see.
