Sprint takes back “Unlimited” data plans
If you missed the commercial that was released when Sprint picked up the iphone I’ve included it below.
In a surprising and total contradiction which most would consider a “bait and switch”, Sprint announces plans to completely cancel “Unlimited data” that they just recently started advertising.
This was obviously a marketing tactic solely to nab as many iphone early adopters onto their network, which from any angle just looks filthy. I don’t want to get started on how lame data restrictions are becoming in America, but it’s sad to see a corporation so blatantly advertise an unlimited data plan, then so quickly revoke it. The changes occur next month (November 2011) and even grandfathered plans will adhere to the new guidelines…this is absolutely disappointing for anyone that just signed up on a two year contract with them.
“Currently, if you use your phone’s Mobile Hotspot add-on, the Mobile Hotspot data usage is combined with your phone data usage. Effective on your next bill following notification, your monthly mobile hotspot on-network data usage will be limited to 5GB of 3G or combined 3G/4G usage dependent upon device capability. Additional data use above 5GB is $.05/MB. “
